The Brainerd Lakes area offers Minnesota's anglers a fantastic multi-species fishery. This region
of Minnesota lakes contains over forty large bodies
of water that are they're all located within a thirty mile radius
of the town of Brainerd, MN. The Brainerd Lakes area
also offers twenty lakes with excellent walleye populations. Some of the best walleye lakes
within this
region would include; Round Lake, Gull Lake, North Long, Pelican Lake, and the Whitefish Chain of
lakes. The best months for catching walleyes in the
Brainerd Lakes Area are from mid May through June and then
from mid August through October. The region is also
home to some of the largest bass tournaments held in
Minnesota each year. Some of the better bass lakes in Brainerd MN would
have to include North Long Lake, Lower Cullen, Gull Lake, and the Whitefish Chain. The
region also has good northern pike populations, but
with the exception of the larger lakes, the average
a size runs 3 to 5 lbs. The best lakes for this
toothy species are Lake Edwards, Middle Whitefish
Lake, and Lower Whitefish Lake. All of the above
mentioned lakes have well managed public boat accesses
and large parking areas.
