General Lake Description:
Gull Lake is about 10 miles north of Brainerd in
the heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area. This
Brainerd Area Lake has eight other lakes
connected to it, making it a remarkable
chain. In general, Gull Lake has it all.
If you enjoy fishing then you are on one of
the best fishing lakes in the state. If
just plain recreation is a high priority,
then you have it on Gull Lake as well. Add
to this the beautiful shoreline, great
beaches, numerous restaurants and close
proximity to golf courses, and you truly end
up with the “up north” atmosphere.

Gull Lake Lakeshore Quality:
Gull Lake is a clear water lake with varying
water color. Gull Lake does have an algae
bloom during August, as most lakes do,
during which time you may encounter a
greenish film on the surface of the lake.
Most of the Gull Lake’s lakeshore varies
from sand to rocks. Some areas of Gull Lake
do have emergent vegetation, such as
bulrushes and lily pads. Generally
speaking, Gull Lake has beautiful clear
water that is near perfect for all water
recreation situations.

Gull Lakeshore Elevations:
Gull Lake has a combination of all types of
lakeshore elevation, from very high to very
low. Gull Lake is very unique in that even
lower elevations do not compromise any of
the things you like about living on water.
Most of Gull Lake that has low elevations
still has all the desirable qualities in
prime lakeshore such as sand beaches,
beautiful trees, and great views to the
water. If you are looking for property on
Gull Lake, then you will find the best of
the best on this lake. Trees and sand
beaches abound on this lake.

Gull Lake Fishing & Recreation:
Gull Lake is known for its terrific walleye
fishing, but also has generous populations
of bass, northern pike, crappie and
sunfish. All parts of Gull Lake can provide
excellent fishing during the year. Gull
Lake is a very popular fishing destination,
as well as a recreational spot for skiing,
sailing, and leisure boating. Gull Lake is
considered to be a combination fishing and
recreational lake. Year in and year, out
Gull Lake will always give you a chance for
great fishing opportunities.

General Lakeshore Development:
Very little undisturbed property is left
untouched on Gull Lake and for very good
reasons. It has unequaled views, with
shoreline abounding with a mixture of
hardwood and pine trees. Most of Gull Lake
keeps a wonderful balance with nature and
has kept a great combination of trees and
landscape in tune. Even with much of Gull
Lake developed, it still has preserved the
“up-north” atmosphere.

Resorts on Gull Lake:
Many resorts are found on Gull Lake ranging
from large to smaller family run
operations. The main part of Gull Lake to
the north has 5 or 6 resorts spread out over
a large area. These resorts offer great
swimming beaches and well-kept, clean
cabins. Camping is non-existent or bare
minimum status.

Gull Lake Restaurants:
Not many lakes in the Brainerd Lakes area
offer as many restaurant opportunities as
Gull Lake does. If you live on Gull Lake,
then you can get to all of these restaurants
by boat. Gull Lake has a very high
concentration of restaurants and bars to
serve your every need. No matter where you
live on the lake, from the south end to the
north, you are not very far from an
enjoyable night out or a quick lunch with
your friends.

Gull Lake Lake Homes & Cabins:
A wide variety of homes are found on Gull
Lake, ranging from small cabins to very high
end properties. Most of the residents on
Gull Lake are considered seasonal, with most
of their time spent on the lake from May to
October. Less than half of the property
owners are permanent, homesteaded local
residents. The typical lot size on Gull
Lake is from 100-150 feet of waterfront with
˝-2 acre lots. Most of the homes on Gull
Lake are medium to large lake homes with
less than half of them having residents that
live and work in the Brainerd Lakes area all
year.

Shallow Water Concerns:
Most shoreline areas of Gull Lake do not
have any issues with accessibility. Most of
Gull Lake has sandy beach areas with deep
water close to the shoreline, meaning that
two-to-four sections of dock are adequate.
Almost all areas of Gull Lake provide
adequate shoreline for docks and boatlifts,
even for larger boats. Generally, all areas
of Gull Lake have excellent shoreline access
for all sizes of boats.

Prime Gull Lake Lakeshore:
Diverse shoreline elevations are
found on Gull Lake including high, medium
and low. You will find many different
shoreline settings on Gull Lake. The
most striking shoreline feature of Gull Lake
is its diverse elevation and the beautiful
trees that make up the shoreline. Many
locals agree that Wilson’s Bay and the east
side of Gull Lake from Love Lake and south
offer the “best of the best” due to (1) less
traffic means peace and quiet, and (2) some
of the most beautiful lakeshore on Gull Lake
can be found here.
